Printing
When a user tells the computer to print a job, the print job does not go directly to the printer, but through a special process. The moment "print" is selected and a print job leaves the desktop it then goes to a netware print queue. At the printer queue print jobs are lined up and processed in the order in which they are received. The print job then goes to the "printer object", which in Carleton's network is known as the Novell Distributed Print Service (NDPS). The printer object tells the printer that a job needs to be processed and formats the file for printing. The printer then prints the lovely item it was told to create.
